Dots and stripes!

Here is a picture from my birthday (March 17), which I draw on for today’s topic: dots and stripes! From ss14 fashion shows we saw a dots explosion, in different colours and sizes, used by Oscar De La Renta, Dolce and Gabbana, Sportmax. Dots patterns appeared for the first time on clothes in the ’30s, and their complete name is Polka-dots coming from the Polish dance. But in the ’50 thanks to actresses like Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot and Audrey Hepburn and the pin-up fashion trend they spread all over the world! They make an outfit funnier and easier to wear and play down the most rigorous looks. But the latest trend is to mix different sizes or different colours of dots, or to be very chic, mix them with stripes, as Burberry Prorsum did on the runway! Stripes, coming from sailors’ clothing are a timeless trend and this year they become colorful and funny as Stella Jean thaught us. So, what can we do to ride this trend alert? Of course lowcost stores and e-stores help us with a lot of models and items full of dots and stripes, we only need to match them to be glamour! 😉 What do you think about my look? I mixed a mini-dots blouse from H&M with the maxi-dots pochette my sister bought me in the USA, keeping the rest of the look basic in black and white. Show me your dots-look!!!

Ecco una foto del mio look per il mio compleanno (il 17 marzo), dalla quale prendo spunto per l’argomento di questo post: righe e pois! Dalle sfilate della primavera/estate 2014 abbiamo visto esplodere miriadi di pois, in diversi colori e misure, usati da Oscar de la Renta su rigorosi tailleur, da Dolce e Gabbana per abiti e gonne a sirena, da Sportmax per completi minimal. Il motivo a pois appare per la prima volta sugli abiti negli anni ’30, e il loro nome inglese è Polka-dots, le loro origini vanno quindi ricercate nella danza popolare polacca. Ma è negli anni ’50 che la moda dei pois si diffonde in tutto il mondo, grazie al mito delle pin-up e ad attrici e icone della moda come Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot e Audrey Hepburn! I famosi pallini rendono un outfit subito più divertente e facile da portare, e sdrammatizzano i capi più seriosi. Ma l’ultima moda è abbinarli tra loro in misure o colori differenti oppure, per essere super chic, mescolarli alle righe, come ci ha mostrato Burberry Prorsum sulla passerella! Le righe, che vengono invece dall’abbigliamento marinaro, sono un trend senza tempo e quest’anno diventano divertenti e colorate come ci insegna Stella Jean. Quindi, che possiamo fare per cavalcare l’onda di questa moda? I negozi e gli e-shop lowcost ci danno una mano con tantissimi pezzi e modelli ricoperti di righe e pallini, dobbiamo solo abbinarli per risultare perfette! 😉 Che ne pensate del mio look? Ho abbinato i mini-pois della blusa H&M ai maxi-pois della pochette che mi ha portato mia sorella dagli USA, mantenendo il resto dell’outfit basico sul classico bianco e nero.
