Oggi ho delle riflessioni da condividere con voi. Come sapete, è in corso la fashion week al maschile, che si sta svolgendo in questi giorni a Londra e arriverà a Milano giorno 17 (preceduta da Pitti Uomo a Firenze). Bene, ieri sono riuscita a vedere, in live streaming dai rispettivi siti, le sfilate Moschino ed Alexander McQueen.
Jeremy Scott è un folle visionario, lo sappiamo e lo amiamo per questo. La moda è un gioco e la provocazione è una missione per il direttore creativo di Moschino. Pur non apprezzando particolarmente la sfilata di ieri, devo dire che non mi ha sorpresa vedere in passerella leggins tempestati di paillettes, pelliccioni e stampe animalier, colbacchi e berretti di ogni tipo, colori fluo, persino uno smoking argento con fiori di ibiscus.
Per contro, la sfilata Alexander McQueen ci ha mostrato un uomo austero, irrigidito in abiti e completi sartoriali di chiara ispirazione militare, in colori molto scuri (prevale il nero, con punte di blu e bordeaux) appena punteggiati da fantasie a fiori.
Il mio dilemma è: in un mondo che punta sempre più alla parità tra i sessi, agli uomini è concessa la stessa libertà modaiola delle donne? Perché apprezziamo colori, stili, sfumature, volumi azzardati sugli abiti femminili mentre gli uomini hanno solo 3 alternative: elegante, casual, buffone? Siamo ottusi e antichi? La moda maschile potrà mai permettersi la stessa varietà stilistica di quella femminile senza apparire ridicola o comunque difficilmente portabile? Il dibattito è aperto, ditemi la vostra 🙂 Bacini!!!!

Today I want to share some thoughts about menswear with you. You know, Male Fashion Week is going on in London, and it will arrive in Milan on 17th of January (preceded by Pitti Uomo in Florence). Well, yesterday I watched Moschino and Alexander McQueen fashion shows in live streaming from their websites.
Jeremy Scott is a crazy day-dreamer, we know it and we love him for this reason. Fashion is a game and provocation is a mission for Moschino‘s creative director. I didn’t like yesterday’s show but I couldn’t be surprised by sequined leggins, huge furs, animalier prints, every kind of hats, fluo colours and a silver flowered smoking.
On the other hand, Alexander McQueen‘s fashion show was about a austere man, stiffed in tailored military suits and clothes, in very dark colours (mainly black with some dark blue and burgundy appearence) and little flowered prints.
My question is: if this world is so concerned in equality, why aren’t man allowed to have our fashion freedom? Why are we happy with different extravagant colours, shapes, styles for women, but not for men? Do they have just 3 choices: elegant, casual, silly? Are we dull and outmode? Could men achieve the same fashion variety of women without looking ridicolous or uneasy-to-wear?
