Spread the love

Here we are at the second date with Harim – Accademia Euromediterranea, the fashion, design, jewels accademy of Catania (here is the first post about it) and her young talents.

Today’s protagonist is Roberta Romano, who took inspiration for her collection Dorian G. from a novel I love in the English Literature: “The picture of Dorian Grey” by Oscar Wilde. The atmosphere of Victorian London of the XIX century penetrates the entire collection, in which all characters are represented, but also their sins and obsessions. Every single piece is full of meaning and metaphors: from the dandy’s stovepipe hat of Dorian to the black veil of the suicide actress Sibyl Vane; from the smoking vice represented by the beige veil to the guepière standing for sensual obsession’s cage; to the red blood that seems to spot the long skirt’s hem. The climax is of course the dress that embodies the picture, bordeaux with fringes.

I found this collection perfectly suitable with its inspiration, with a touch of disturbing darkness and so evocative.

Roberta has presented this collection in Madeinmedi event, and now she’s graduated in Fashion Design from Harim she dreams to be a fashion illustrator. I cannot but wish her good luck and a successfull future, because I think she is so talented and good that she will surely manage to achieve her dreams! 🙂
